The Meat Shoppe collects donations for the foundation
Kent Berry is the owner of The Meat Shoppe in Gravel Ridge, AR. The Meat Shoppe is a full fledged meat market, as in butcher shop, and it is also a small restaurant. They specialize in Southern: BBQ, Ribs, Pork, Chicken and Sausages with all the side dishes; potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, cabbage, green beans, and etc.
They are here to serve our community. This, in a nutshell, is their purpose.
The Meat Shoppe Supports The Foundation
The Meat Shoppe sponsored a “Breakfast With Bob” event with Clear Channel Communications for the morning of Friday, May the 13th, 2016. Bob is Bob Robbins, a popular disc jockey on the classic-country music station KMJX, The Wolf, 105.1 FM which broadcasts over a wide area of Arkansas.
They used that airtime to call attention to a worthy cause in our community. They think the veterans cemetery is a very worthy cause.
The Meat Shoppe appreciates our veterans.
Kent has a long line of veterans in his family. His uncle, John Marion Berry, made the ultimate sacrifice in WWII. He was killed in the Battle of Leyte Gulf just off the coast of the Philippine Islands. He has an ancestor, Alfred Franklin Rutledge, who died in a POW camp during in the Civil War. His 5th great-grandfather, William Berry, died at Kings Mountain in the Revolutionary War.
The purpose of his efforts was for The Meat Shoppe to promote the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery during the aforementioned broadcast.
Kent understands that the cemetery is multi-faceted and is quite certain there would be needs and desires for foundation support for our veterans and their families at the cemetery.
As a result of Kent’s efforts, the Foundation accepted donations of more than $1900. Well done Kent!
